Goodness! I hate it that so many giveaways and other juicy bits slipped by while my blog reader had amnesia. But there are some posts with info that doesn’t go out of style in a month. Like these:

The Consortium is, according to its web site, “a newly formed, international organization of scholars, historians, curators, educators, genealogists, textile conservators, collectors, dealers, and needlework experts interested in the study of historic samplers and other girlhood embroideries.”

Terry Dryden and McCall Miller have been experimenting with using needlepoint stitches on 18-count linen. Terry says, “There is definitely more ’spring’ to the linen than the canvas, but still is taut enough for stitching.” Read more details and see more examples in this post on Terry’s blog.

Jeanne at Just String blog has posted an excellent tutorial on spiral trellis stitch. The explanation is clear, and lots of photos guide us through the steps. Be aware that, because the post is picture heavy, it may take a while to load. But hang in there; it’s worth it!
