One look at this beautiful hand embroidered felt Easter egg from Shiny Happy World and you will be heading to your supplies bin to get out everything you will need to make it. It is so lovely. I usually put out some spring branches and hang some Easter ornaments from them. I do believe I will be making one of these for my tree this year.
The design kind of reminds me of the ones that are done in the Ukraine called Pysanky eggs. If you had the right colors, you could easily mimic that look.
This helpful tutorial includes everything you will need to know to make it. You do need to know a few basic embroidery stitches like the backstitch, running stitch, lazy daisy stitch, and french knots.
You will find a free downloadable pattern for both the stitching and the wedge shapes for the felt. The egg is assembled in four parts.
