When the dryer eats a sock, what happens to its mate? Lucky ones wind up in the hands of Susan Lenz and get stitched into her Looking for a Mate art-quilt community project. Susan says,
LOOKING FOR A MATE was originally conceived and conducted in Columbia, South Carolina. I developed the idea as a way to humorously illustrate exactly what an art quilt is through public involvement…Studios Midwest operates with their artists-in-residences conducting some sort of committee project. This one was a natural and brought me to Illinois.
To find out more about this project, go to Susan’s blog post. And add her blog to your reader so you can watch its development throughout her residency in Galesburg.
Susan Len says
Thanks so much for spreading the words about my public sock art quilt project here in Galesburg! It is so much fun … and nearly finished too. The piece will be hung at the reception for my residency work next Friday, August 24th. I’ll be posting more photos too! Thanks again!
