I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I’m just now discovering the incredible work of needle artist Salley Mavor. Her technique, which she calls “fabric relief,” is kind of a combination of embroidery, dollmaking, stump work, and miniature crafting. The image shown here is a preview of an illustration Salley is creating for a book of nursery rhymes, as introduced on Mimi Kirchner‘s blog, Doll. (Thank you for sharing this, Mimi!) You can see more of Salley’s work on her site, Wee Folk Studio.
