Jane Austen was as adept with a needle and a pen, and this one-of-a-kind book exhibits rare and gorgeous embroidery patterns from her age, repurposed into 15 current sewing projects.
The projects are based on Lady’s Magazine (1770-1832), a prominent monthly periodical of fashion, literature, and gossip. They include embroidered garments, accessories, and housewares. An evening purse, a muslin shawl, an apron, a flowery napkin set and tablecloth, and other lovely and functional items with timeless appeal are among the designs.
These original designs, many of which haven’t been reproduced in almost 200 years, are brought to life by vivid insights into the world of Regency ladies and their home lives. Jane Austin Embroidery
