The winners of PieceWork Magazine‘s 2008 Pincushion Contest, Excellence in Needle Arts Awards, were announced in the July/August issue, which was released July 8. You can view the winners, honorable mentions, and other lovely entries on line, too.
A message from Interweave, publisher of the magazine, says, “The awards, a biannual cooperative between PieceWork and industry sponsors, showcases the best work of needlecrafters in quilting, embroidery, tatting or lacemaking, needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting or crochet…The Grand Prize winner, receiving a $500 cash prize from The National NeedleArts Associaton, is Sharlotte DeVere of Leechburg, PA., for her ‘Raspberry Truffle Tuffet,’ a cross-stitched, beaded, and embroidered pincushion. DeVere also won first place in the embroidery category and receives $200 in products from category sponsor The Caron Collection. First-place winners each received $200 in prizes from the awards’ other first-place sponsors: DMC, cross-stitch; Plymouth Yarn Company Inc., knitting/crochet; Presencia Hilaturas USA, tatting/lacemaking; Quilting Arts magazine, quilting; Zweigart, needlepoint; and first-time sponsor Sublime Stitching, Next Generation Embroiderer.”
