Michelle Barnard gave us the heads-up about a group exhibit, TenPlus Textiles, at Stoke on Trent, UK, that runs through August. The group’s site says,
Ten Plus Textiles was formed in 1991 by ten textile artists from the North West who finished Part Two City and Guilds, taught by the renowned Joan Archer. They wanted to work together and promote greater appreciation of embroidery in all its forms. The group is in its twentieth year, for which retrospective exhibitions are planned. There are currently sixteen members who meet informally to further artistic development and assess projects. The group exhibits two or three times a year and members also exhibit as individuals. At present, interests range from stitched paper and experimental mixed media to weaving, quilting, bead-work and appliqué.
See thumbnails of the work (such as Michelle’s, shown above) and bio sketches of each of the artists at the TenPlus site. And if you’re near or can get to Stoke on Trent, be sure to stop by to see the work up close and personal.

I was taught by Joan Archer at South
Trafford College. What a great inspiration she was.
