This gorgeous seam treatment by SharonB of Pin Tangle reminds me of an undersea garden. Sharon says,
This is seam first covered with braid. On the bottom edge of the braid I worked two rows of herringbone in bunka thread. This formed a band of herringbone stitches. The bottom row I interlaced with chenille thread and the top section of the band I interlaced with bunka thread. Along the edges of the row I added detached chain stitches and straight stitches. The top edge of the braid is a far more simple treatment as it is straight stitches and seed beads.
You could get a stunning effect with other color combos, of course. But if you happen to be working on a water-themed CQ, consider stealing this idea just as it is! See more details on Sharon’s blog post.
