50 pillowcases needed by the end of February!

January 19, 2010 by Denise Felton 1 Comment

pillowDebra Montgomery of Debra’s Design Studio is organizing another instalment of Operation Pillowcase. She’s trying to put together enough handmade pillowcases for a unit of 50 U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. She says,

From my experience on the first Operation Pillowcase on the about.com site back in the day, the soldiers love the handmade pillowcases.  The initial purpose of sending the cases was to help out on laundry/sanitary issues.  They couldn’t launder bed linens often so the dark pillowcases were welcome.  Then, we found out that they were loved as little ambassadors from the US and some of the soldiers used them as wallhangings where they could pin pictures of loved ones back home.

You know you want to share your handiwork with these troops! Find out how from Debra’s blog post.
