Alternative stitching surface: Wood

I’m fascinated by this project that Becky Stern found in Craftzine.com‘s flickr pool. Contributor NewandDifferent is embroidering on wood! I’m not brave enough to attempt needlework on hardwood. But you may find me hanging around the model-airplane section of my local craft store this weekend, scarfing up sheets of balsa. Oh, the possibilities! See the post.
