Have you ever thought about adding a little (or a lot of) bling to your hand embroidery projects? Well if you have, or even if you haven’t, then you should check out this tutorial from Cedar Canyon Textiles.
This article covers a beaded backstitch and provides step by step detailed photos to get you started. Just look at the movement the beading adds to the design. The demonstration is done on fabric that has been painted, but one could easily use this method on other embroidery canvases as well.
In this method, the artist adds the beads after the stitching has been completed. The beads are incorporated into the stitching with other stitches. That may sound a bit complicated, but take a look at the tutorial and you will understand how it is done.
Adding some sparkle to a project can take it to another level. It can turn a relatively flat looking composition into something dimensional.
