Call for Dream Rocket student work

September 7, 2011 by Denise Felton Leave a Comment

In association with the Dream Rocket project, teachers are asked to engage their students in creating artwork to be displayed at the 2012 National Art Educators Association Conference in New York City March 1- 4, 2012. Promotional materials note,

The Dream Rocket project [is] a global public art project happening at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The Dream Rocket Art Project is the first of its scope in the world. For a student to have the opportunity to participate in this project will not only be a learning experience, but offer the student a place in history. The Dream Rocket Project offers the benefits of dynamic cross-curricular art education strategies, national and international collaboration, and an outlet for individual expression.

The designated theme of submissions, “Dare to Dream”, challenges individuals to expand beyond the present state of the world and imagine the future. Perhaps most importantly, individuals are asked to imagine their contribution to that future. These individual dreams & aspirations will combine to create a monumental 32,000 sq ft work art, providing a tangible demonstration of the beauty of individuals collaborating to meet universal challenges. Submissions are also being placed on tour and displayed in national & international venues up until the time the Saturn V is wrapped, to date, 42 shows have been organized.

See the flickr pool of student art submitted so far. Or get participation details at the Dream Rocket site.
