Mary Corbet of Needle ‘N Thread has posted an extensive Shisha stitch tutorial on her wonderful blog. Shisha stitch, if you aren’t familiar with it, involves embroidery stitches and mirrors. (For purposes of photographing the tutorial Mary used a small round cardboard disc, I think.) The two most common stitches used are a combination buttonhole and chain stitch worked over a grid of threads that hold the small mirrors to the ground fabric. Mary has provided many pictures and a lot of instructional text to insure that you will have success in learning the most common Shisha stitch. She also offers lots of tips. So go try it out today.
