After so many centuries of embroidery tradition, you’d think there would be nothing new to report; but it seems to me that stitchers are endlessly creative — inventing, reinventing, improving, modifying. That’s what keeps this artform fresh.
Last week I mentioned that Annet of Fat-Quarter had combined square knots and drizzle stitch in a way I’d never seen before. In a comment on that post, our fave Deepa Balagopal (This and That) pointed to post about a stitch she invented — fur stitch — which produces the gorgeous texture shown on the pink petals of this flower. Brilliant!
