DIY Embroidery Snowflake Ornament

November 8, 2020 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

Nothing says winter more than snowflakes, and this DIY ornament from Our Southern Home is an easy project to show off that motif.  Normally snowflakes are done in pale pastel colors, but this ornament has a homespun feel to it.

A unique aspect of this design is that it incorporates a metal decorative snowflake sewn onto the top of the embroidery.  This gives the ornament a nice touch of dimension.  The stitching mimics the shape of the snowflake.

Using a mini embroidery hoop and gold metallic yarn, the designer uses her own stitching pattern to make the snowflake.  She doubles up on the yarn to get thicker stitches.  Then she adds the weathered snowflake charm to finish the project.

This DIY embroidered snowflake ornament is a quick project that would make a lovely addition to your tree.  It could also be attached to a ribbon on a present as a little extra gift. I love adding special touches like that to the Christmas gifts I give.
