Free Christmas Holly Tablecloth Embroidery Pattern Review

October 30, 2026 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

If you love Christmas table decorating and you’re the sort of person who thinks a plain white tablecloth is basically just waiting for a crafty upgrade, then this free Christmas Holly Tablecloth embroidery pattern from DMC is a lovely find. DMC describes it as an easy embroidery pattern designed for their white ready-to-stitch tablecloth, though you could also use the design on other linens if you wanted to make it your own.

What I really like about this one is that it feels festive without going over the top. Holly is one of those classic Christmas motifs that always works. It’s traditional, elegant, and doesn’t date the way some novelty Christmas designs can. You know the ones — cute for about five minutes, then suddenly your table looks like a children’s party exploded on it.

According to DMC, the holly motif looks especially nice when it’s stitched repeatedly in a random arrangement, which gives you a bit more freedom with the layout instead of making everything feel stiff or overly formal. That’s probably my favourite part. It means you can create something that feels handmade and natural rather than too perfect. And honestly, handmade Christmas pieces always look nicer with a little personality anyway.

DMC also notes that the design uses their Six-Strand Embroidery Floss, and they highlight that the thread is colourfast and fade resistant, which is exactly what you want for something you’ll hopefully bring out year after year. A Christmas tablecloth is not a tiny one-afternoon project for most of us, so it’s nice knowing the finished stitching is meant to stay vibrant over time.

For me, this pattern sits in that sweet spot between practical and special. It’s not just a hoop you hang up for December and pack away again. It’s something you can actually use. Pop it on the table for Christmas lunch, a festive dinner, or even just because you want Tuesday night leftovers to feel a bit more cheerful. I’m very much in favour of craft projects that make everyday life feel a touch prettier.

If you’re searching for a free Christmas embroidery pattern, free holly embroidery pattern, or a free embroidered tablecloth pattern for Christmas, this one is definitely worth a look. It has that timeless DMC feel — classic, polished, and very giftable too if you’re the ambitious sort who plans Christmas stitching before December sneaks up and causes panic.
