Golden Aster and Butterfly Free Punch Needle Pattern from DMC – Nature-Inspired Punch Needle Bliss

August 21, 2025 by Shellie Wilson Leave a Comment

If you’re in the mood for a punch needle project that feels like a peaceful afternoon in the garden, the Golden Aster & Butterfly pattern from DMC is calling your name. This design is sweet, airy, and full of gentle charm—exactly what you’d expect from a pattern inspired by wildflowers and fluttering wings.

The pattern features a soft yellow aster bloom with a sweet little butterfly floating nearby. It has a lovely hand-drawn quality that keeps it playful, but it’s still modern enough to blend beautifully into your home decor. Imagine it framed in a hoop and hung near a sunny window—it’s giving cozy cottagecore energy with a clean finish.

This is another free download from DMC, which is always a win. The instructions are easy to follow, and the suggested threads are perfect if you want to use Nova Vita yarn or chunky thread. That said, you could totally adapt this with whatever punch needle supplies you already have at home.

What’s great about this pattern is that it’s beginner-friendly without being too basic. There’s a nice balance between open space and detailed shapes, so you get plenty of practice with different loop lengths and outlining, especially if you want to play with texture in the butterfly wings or flower center.

It’s a wonderful pattern to work on if you’re winding down at the end of the day or want something meditative to do while listening to a podcast. And when you’re finished? You’ve got a little handmade celebration of nature—something that feels both calming and joyful.

Whether you’re stitching for yourself or gifting it to a fellow garden lover, the Golden Aster & Butterfly punch needle design is a gentle, uplifting make you’ll be proud to show off.

Let me know if you stitch this one—I’d love to see your version!
