This tutorial will take you through the history of the stitch method, as well as give you a list of the supplies that you will need. Surprisingly they are not really that different than items used in other hand embroidery.
You will also find links to four other tutorials demonstrating the various stitches used. The overall effect of hardanger is a lacy and open look which is quite lovely. There is even a link to a tutorial for some pretty Christmas ornaments using the technique.
