Here is another wonderful tutorial from Mary over on Needle ‘n Thread. This time it is a Guilloche Stitch tutorial. One of the things I love about Mary’s blog is that she demonstrates so many different and lesser known stitches. This (at least for me) is definitely one of those.
With its various layers and knots, this is a beautiful stitch that adds all sorts of interest to a project. Guilloche would be particularly good for a border on a design. It is not a great stitch for a beginner, but the tutorial has detailed step by step instructions and photos to help you out.
To me it almost resembles a type of lace. I love how Mary used different colors to show off the various elements of the stitch.
