The moment I saw this project from Knitting-and I knew I needed to highlight it. It is made using the German tufted wool embroidery technique, also known as amish stumpwork or plushwork. Whatever it is is called, it is beautiful.
You will find a downloadable file so you can make your own templates for the flowers. In addition, the tutorial takes you through the entire process, providing plenty of helpful photos along the way.
Further along in the tutorial you will find instructions for another type of flowers and some leaves too. You could make a whole garden of these gorgeous flowers if you wanted too.
I have never tried stumpwork, but after seeing this tutorial I think I am going to have too. I just love the dimension that it adds to a project.
