Inspiration: Liliane D.

The dimensional applique of this quilt absolutely takes my breath away! The piece was posted by BDcouture and is the work of her mother, Liliane D., based on art by Gaelle Boissonnard. Brava!

Dimensional applique is just that, applique with dimension, and layers to create  3D Dimensional affect on your project, be it a needlework piece or a quilt.

Here is a video tutorial on how to do Dimensional Applique.

Oh this is lovely. I have never seen fabrics given such a treatment to show the feel of motion. You can almost feel the wind blow her hair and skirts as it breezes by….

Oh! that is lovely. It’s a bit art deco, a bit 1970’s. A bit quilting, a bit applique,a bit soft sculpture, a bit stump work. Really nice piece of work.
