Pat Winter has put together the Comfort Doll Project, an initiative to place tiny, beautiful, handmade dolls in the hands of women who have experienced abuse.
Pat says on her blog, “I know some may think making dolls to give to a woman who has just been beaten, raped, or abused in some way is like putting a band-aid on an amputation. Well, I see it as sending a message of hope, love, and encouragement. A gentle hug,a smile,a nudge to go forward and see there is sunshine ahead.”
Anyone can contribute needlework to this project. If you’re interested, please see the doll specs and submission information on the blog.
