Meet MrX

August 25, 2010 by Denise Felton 2 Comments

OMG! Joetta Maue talked MrXStitch, Jamie Chalmers, into sitting still for an interview! As always, he’s interesting, funny, and right on target. You’ll enjoy his take on the needlework scene, and you’ll love all the photos of stitcheries by him and by those who inspire him. Give yourself a ten-minute treat and go read the post.

Meet Mr X…….the article about Mr.X was ok but the photos of his X-stitch…just doesn’t meet your usual standards. I’m disappointed !!
I love your site and have gotten wonderful ideas and instructions but this is just too much…did you look at the photos??….I was interested in this because my husband has x-stitched for over 25 years and does beautiful work….I’d be disappointed if he did pieces like this….and put them on your web site!

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Robin. MrXStitch is certainly controversial, and you may not be the only one who doesn’t appreciate his work. But whether or not you like his stitching, I think Jamie deserves a salute for being an energetic force in repopularizing embroidery, particularly among arts-oriented young people. I, for one, hope he continues to rock out with his you-know-what out.
