Megan Canning: Live in DC

February 5, 2013 by Denise Felton 2 Comments

meganMegan Canning will give an artist lecture February 26 at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA, “about using embroidery and soft sculpture to illustrate the intricacies of the human body.” She says,

My talk will be about my work as well as the research behind it, and will include a short overview of medical illustration. Which basically means I get to geek out on anatomy and neuroscience and immunology. I mean, the Museum has an ‘organ of the month’ club! As soon as I found that out, I knew these were my people.

If you’re in the Washington, DC, area, don’t miss this opportunity to hear an amazing needle artist talk about her work. Find out more from her blog post.

My name is Melissa and I’m the public affairs specialist at the National Museum of Health and Medicine. Thanks for posting about the program that Ms. Canning will be giving for us. Just wanted to clarify that this talk will be held at the Silver Spring Civic Building (1 Veterans Place, Fenton Room, Silver Spring, MD 20910), not the Museum. The program is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is free.
