New show by Susan Lenz: Last Words

August 4, 2010 by Denise Felton 2 Comments

Fiber artist Susan Lenz has an awesome new solo show. The promotional materials say,

LAST WORDS features Susan’s Grave Rubbing Art Quilt Series, her “Angels in Mourning” series, and a collection of epitaphs free-motion embroidered on sheer chiffon banners.  Artificial flowers from cemetery dumpsters (washed and dried, of course!) line the perimeter of the atmospheric space.

That’s intriguing enough. And over on Susan’s blog, you can get a bit of the feel of the show — its scope, its mood, its themes. As always, Susan’s art shocks, touches, and comforts. I sorely wish I could experience this installation in person. See it at Gallery 412 in Florence, South Carolina, USA, if you can. See delicious glimpses on Susan’s blog if you can’t.

    Hi!
Thanks so very, very much for including my work on your blog! It was a great challenge to transform the interior space into a spiritual location for remembrance and fiber!
