Perfumed floss……why?

March 20, 2009 by Denise Felton 2 Comments

DMC has released a new product – Secret Perfume floss – that gives me the shudders. The 12 colors come in three “aroma themes”: Flower Bouquet, Tutti-fruiti, and Delicacies. The DMC site claims that the fragrance is released by touch. Find out more.

I’m having a little trouble getting behind this concept. I’m sensitive to fragrances. Work, church, or (especially) an elevator can be torture to me when someone is wearing a scent I’m allergic to. Instant runny nose and headache. Scents that don’t set off my allergies often make me uncomfortable. Even if I could manage to get through stitching a project with scented floss, I’d be cautious about using that item as a gift. What if the receiver is allergic or sensitive?

What do you think? Are you going to try the new scented DMS floss?

Reminds me of those scented markers my kids used to have. I hated those too.

I want to try it but I’m afraid the smells will give me a headache. I contacted DMC and asked if they’re interested in a review, but I think so far they’re not intending on taking this to the mass market. I haven’t worked with them, so I can’t tell if that’s good or bad. I’d like to get my hands on some though.
