Plastic canvas is a plastic embroidered canvas. It has been on the market since the 1970s. It’s comprised of lightweight vinyl with evenly placed perforations. It is available in a variety of mesh counts, including 5, 7, 10, and 14 holes per inch.

CraftBits.com has a Plastic Canvas Stitching Guide that might be a good starting point if you have never done this type of stitching before.
