Plastic canvas with small mesh

August 19, 2008 by Denise Felton 5 Comments

Needlework and photo by Sister Diane of CraftyPodSister Diane at CraftyPod is rockin the plastic canvas. Just look at this charming box she made with cotton yarn found at a “big-box craft store.” And Sister Diane said she found 14-count plastic canvas at Michaels! I didn’t know PC was available in such small mesh, and I’m dying to get my hands on it. If you hear of other sources – especially online sources – please post a comment so all of us PC lovers can stock up.

    Hi, Denise –

You’re totally my plastic canvas buddy! I found you some 14-count online at A.C. Moore: http://tinyurl.com/59o754.

Found some at Annie’s Attic, too – but only in 12-packs: http://tinyurl.com/5ra4cs.

I’ve been noodling with my 14, and really loving how it looks.

I love working with 14 count pc mesh. I like to convert cross stitch patterns for 14 count fabric to needlepoint on 14 count pc. Here’s a link to one of my conversion projects:

Only problem is, the sheets only come in 8X11. Sure wish I could find larger pieces…

Working on 10 count pc mesh makes some lovely things too.

Does anyone know if 14 count Plastic canvas comes in either orange or black??
I can only find white, clear, brown, ivory and ecru
Please e-mail me if you know where I can order the above.
    Thanks

It is available, but hard to find. I don’t know that I’ve seen it in Orange, but it does come in black. I’ve got a pattern from a magazine that is a cross-stitch done on black aida for the background, but the haunted house is done on plastic canvas with doors and shuttered windows that move. When you open the doors and shutters you see glow-in-the-dark mummies, witches, skeletons and ghosts. It is really cute. I need 14 count black canvas for the house. Hopefully, I can still get it. I put it off last time, and I’m having trouble finding it this time. I found a Canadian company that sells it but only to retailers.
