Quilting is a US $3.3 billion industry!

March 17, 2009 by Denise Felton Leave a Comment

Check out this tidbit from Joy Tipping of the Dallas Morning News:

When you think of multibillion-dollar industries, you probably think of airlines, Starbucks, anything associated with Mark Cuban.

Believe it or not, you can add quilting to that list. According to the Quilts Inc. 2006 “Quilting in America” survey, quilting is done in 17 percent of U.S. households and supports a $3.3 billion industry. And it’s growing – the number of quilters in the U.S., according to the survey, increased by 6.3 million from 2003 to 2006, with 27.7 million people participating in the craft.
