Sproutdesign: Hand-screen-printed fabric

August 26, 2008 by Denise Felton Leave a Comment

Fabric available from Sproutdesigns siteI am so excited to discover Sproutdesign. This two-year-old, environmentally conscious Australian company markets the work of a collective of talented Australian designers, including Lara Cameron and Shannon Lamden. The online store offers a range of goods, and they’re all wonderful. But quilters will totally fall in love with the fabric line. The site claims, “Sproutdesign’s range of hand screen printed fabrics and products are designed and made in Australia with little people and their spaces in mind. Playful prints putting the child back into children!”  Furthermore, they say, “We make every effort to walk lightly on our planet, leaving only a beautiful imprint on those we sell to. All stationery is  either recycled stock or FSC approved paper, we offset carbon emissions when we travel by air and we walk to work. Our screen printing uses a water based process and where possible we source Australian made base stock.”

If you happen to live in Australia, you’re in luck! If you live somewhere else, I should warn you that I haven’t yet found information on the site about international shipping. I should be able to report soon, though, because I don’t think I can resist the Bird Tree or Counting Sheep fabric much longer!
