SharonB has been running a series on her blog, Pin Tangle, documenting the stitches she has used in her Love of Stitching band sampler. Every example is worth studying – what an amazing array of stitches! Many of her samples are happy rediscoveries for me, but some are totally new. This one, for example, is my new favorite. Sharon says,
People usually delight in this band when they spot it. These butterfly motifs are made of an arrangement of 3 detached chain stitches which are used for the wings and the body of the butterfly is worked in a bullion knot. There are all sorts of variations to be created with this ‘stitch’ you can have upper and lower wings, fine and heavy wings etc. It is lots of fun to play with.
I can’t wait to get home and try this out! See the post. And be sure to check out the entire sampler series.
