Mary Corbet has been writing about Tambour embroidery lately and she recently finished another practice piece, shown here. You can get a copy of this pattern at the Needle ‘N Thread blog and find a materials list there too. She notes that the book Tambour Work that she reviewed recently is out of stock, even from the publisher, but that hopefully it will be reprinted soon. Mary offers quite a few tips on doing Tambour work in her latest post – sounds like she is reviving this once-popular form of embroidery in a big way! Learn more and find the link for the free pattern.

Tambour embroidery is a centuries-old craft that is still popular today. It’s a type of needlework that uses a special hook to stitch intricate, delicate patterns into a variety of fabrics.

Tambour embroidery is perfect for adding special accents to clothing, accessories, and home décor items. To get started, you’ll need to acquire the necessary supplies, like fabric, thread, needles, and an embroidery hoop.

Once you have the basics, you can start experimenting with Tambour embroidery patterns. There are a variety of pre-made patterns available, or you can create your own! After that, you simply need to practice and perfect your technique. With a little patience and practice, you’ll be creating beautiful Tambour embroidery pieces in no time.
