The new TAFA site is live!

January 1, 2012 by Denise Felton 2 Comments

Rachel Biel shares the news that her dream of setting up a new site for The Textile and Fiber Art List has come true! The new site is now in beta. Rachel’s e-newsletter says,

My big focus in 2011 has been TAFA’s new website.  I had hoped that we would launch by Thanksgiving, then by Christmas, and now, on New Year’s Eve, we are almost there, but still working on revisions and loading content. So, we are not quite ready, but I didn’t want to end the year without sharing our hard work.

The server we went with cannot handle the site (Fat Cow, a green technology site that runs on wind power. What a shame…).  We will be changing to a new server as soon as possible.

Twenty of our members served as guinea pigs, going through the process of loading their profiles. They send in feedback for revisions. As soon as these are implemented, the rest of our members will be loading their info. We now have 400 members from over 30 countries, so it will be exciting to see everyone up there!

Visit the new TAFA site.

Thanks for spreading the news, Denise! It’s very exciting to see the site take shape. Hopefully, we can get the revisions done in the next couple of days and then give the green light to the rest of the members.

Non-member users will also be able to sign up and leave comments and bookmark their favorite pages. We hope that the new site will be a great resource for the textile and fiber art community.

The url will change over to http://www.tafalist.com when we are done with our revisions. The preview is at http://www.tafalist.net.

Happy New Year to all of you here at Craft Gossip!

This new site is going to be a great place to find all kinds of fibre art and artists! TAMMACHAT Natural Textiles (www.tammachat.com), which offers fairly traded, handwoven textiles from women’s weaving groups in Thailand and Laos, is proud to be part of TAFA! Please check out the new site and see the range of textiles and fibre art.
