Susan Lenz‘s artist residency at Studios Midwest included a collaborative community project — Looking for a Mate — an art quilt made by many hands from orphaned socks. The project allowed Susan to teach about quilting in general and art quilting in particular, get to know local stitchers, and create a unique work. In complement to the quilt, Susan led a workshop for disabled adults in which they created a clothesline of mateless socks to festoon the exhibit space. Brilliant!
