The final portion of my Intermediate Modular Embroidery Sampler is an introduction to the Laid Work technique: overlaying three or more layers of thread to create a complicated design!
Laid work is an excellent method for swiftly generating a strong fill for a wide area of needlework.
Laid work threads large stitches in opposite directions across the front of the cloth, resulting in short stitches on the reverse.
Layed stitch, one of the principal stitches used to fill the Bayeux Tapestry, fills regions fast without taking up too much thread.
