Olisa Corcoran posted this wonderful piece of stitchery on her blog recently. I immediately recognized the subject being married to an electricity nerd myself. It is Nikola Tesla of course. And the design was stitched ever so perfectly by Rachel Lynn Rose on trompe l’oeil ground fabric. As Olisa says, “But Rachel did not stop there. She inserted LED lights to form globes in each of Tesla’s outstretched hands. She even created rays around the globes with conductive thread.” I have seen those LED kits and always wondered how I could incorporate them into stitching projects. I do think Rachel found a perfect way to do it in this case! Visit Olisa’s blog Cocoaeyesthestitcher for more images of the project and more information about it.
