December 23, 2021 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

If you have ever wanted to try silk ribbon embroidery then this tutorial from Crewel Ghoul is for you.

Full of step-by-step photos, the article goes over a number of different ribbon stitches, as well as supplies needed for this hobby.  You will also find a number of helpful tips to get you started.  It really is a wonderful introduction to the hobby.

One of the things I like best about silk ribbon embroidery is the added dimension it gives to a canvas.  It makes a piece that much more interesting.   Used in conjunction with regular hand embroidery, it can give a design a completely new look.

To learn about this embroidery style you will want to check out this article: Silk Ribbon Embroidery Techniques for the Beginner

Looking for a supplier of Silk Ribbon? We love Etsy for finding hand dyed ribbons as well as imported European silk Embroidery Ribbons. You can see the listings here on Etsy.  Why use silk ribbons? While you can use other kinds of ribbon, it’s best to work with silk because It’s lightweight and very fluid and can easily be manipulated into stitches.
