Are you looking for a simple yet festive hand embroidery project to make for the holidays? This bright and cheerful Christmas tree, from I Should be Mopping the Floor might be just what you are looking for. Side note here: What a great name for a blog. It makes me smile every time I see it!
Using a simple backstitch for the tree and french knots for the ornaments, it is a project for any skill level, as long as you know the stitches. An added fun design element is the pompom trim around the outside of the embroidery hoop. How cute!
One of the things I like about this tutorial is that there are options provided for three different hoop sizes, 4″, 6″, and 8″. In addition, there are downloadable patterns for each of the three sizes. The options for each size are very helpful. It is not always easy to adjust a pattern if you want to change the size.
You will need standard hand embroidery supplies including a hoop, canvas, floss and a needle. The pompom trim is optional, but it really gives this fun and festive design a punch.
