This is so brilliant and yet so obvious that it seems like everyone should be doing it already. Noreen Crone-Findlay at Hankering for Yarn blog points out that cones and tubes of thread fit perfectly on old CD spindles. I’ve got several large cones of metallic thread that are intended for machine stitching but that I use for hand embroidery. It frustrates me to death that they roll around all over the couch (and floor) and some of the thread always ends up tangled and wasted. I’m definitely taking home some spindles from work that otherwise would wind up in trash cans. This solution rocks. Thanks, Noreen!
