Chris of Ella’s Craft Creations shares an excellent method for transferring an embroidery design to fabric. In her needlework tutorial, she will show you one of the easiest ways to transfer your Embroidery design to the fabric. You’re going to love the hand-colored poppy design that she features near the end of the post.
Transferring designs on to fabric has to be one of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to Embroidery. It seems everyone has their own way of doing things to achieve the easiest transfer method for them.
Looking for Embroidery Thread? Check out DMC’s website.
This article gives you one method but there are lots of different transfer methods out there. Her article also goes into helpful step by step details to help you through the entire process.
Don’t let the question of how to get that pattern onto your fabric deter you as there are plenty of different styles and methods that will get you stitching your embroidery pattern in no time at all.
Do you have a tried and tested method for transferring designs?
Feel free to share them below in the comments. I am especially interested in learning how to transfer large designs on thick fabric for big Embroidery projects.
Cover the design with tracing paper and fix using masking tape on a level surface.
Trace your design onto the tracing paper, then flip it over and sketch over it. (Retrace on the back as well, so that your design is appropriately orientated when you transfer it!)
Return your tracing paper to the first side you traced! Place the fabric on the surface and secure it using masking tape.
Place your tracing paper pattern on top of the fabric and secure using masking tape!
Ella’s method however would rank as one of the easiest! Check out her tutorial
