How to Transfer Embroidery Images onto Darker Fabric

April 9, 2021 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

If you have ever tried to transfer an embroidery image onto darker fabric, you know that it is not always as straightforward as transferring onto light fabric.  This tutorial from My Poppet Makes guides you through the entire process.

Using carbon tracing paper, the author was able to easily transfer her design onto a darker and heavier chambray material.

Read through the entire article and you will find that it is not as hard as you might think it is.  It also helps that there are plenty of photos provided.

Sometimes the fabric we want to embroider on is just too thick or dark to use a light source behind it, and that is where this tutorial comes in handy.

On a side note, I absolutely love the tea cup design she uses as a demonstration.  It’s from her book and it is absolutely charming.

If you have been trying to figure out a way to transfer an embroidery image to a dark or heavy fabric, then this tutorial is for you.  You can find it here: How to Transfer Embroidery Patterns onto Darker Fabric.
