If you love to stitch with mesh tubing, I’ve got great news for you. And if you’ve never stitched with mesh tubing: heads-up! Everybody’s talking about a product from Sundance Designs introduced at the January TNNA: Sparkles. It’s flexible mesh tubing in a wide variety of colors with a metallic sparkle.
Barbara Elmore says: “It twists, turns, flattens, fattens, and couches! It also stitches, plunges, and scrunches. It is a cross between a Chinese finger torture device and a slinky! And it is Wonderful!”
Janet Perry says: “You could make thick or thin spirals from it or flatten it down squeeze it and wrap it to make something that look like a solid piece of metal. You could put small beads in it and then wrap thread between the beads to make a necklace. You could run Sundance’s new Neon tubing through it and make it glow.”
Emma of DMC Threads says: “The tubing can be ironed down flat onto your project to look like ribbon. It can also be couched down as a three dimensional embellishment.”
I haven’t seen prices yet, so I’m crossing my fingers that this new product will be affordable. You can see all of the colors at Sundance’s site.
Ed. note: Nobody asked or compensated me to post about this product. I’m actually this excited about it.

Thanks Robin for pitching our “Sparkles!” We love it and are pleased with the positive responses we received at market. Of course, Barbara Elmore is the expert with her creative uses for this new product. It’s so different from your basic stitching thread that we’re planning a stitch guide on how to use it. Stay tuned…Cassie

I’d love to try Sparkles, is there somewhere you can order online? I don’t live anywhere near a needlepoint shop.

I checked the Sundance site and this product doesn’t seem to be currently available. You might try contacting Sundance designs directly.
