Patricia loves Flower Fairies

January 23, 2009 by Denise Felton Leave a Comment

Reader Patricia Jay loves Di van Niekerk‘s Flower Fairies book and kit so much that she wrote in to ask us to highlight it for you.

Di’s new book takes five beloved, 85-year-old fairy illustrations by Cicely Mary Barker and interprets them in three-dimensional embroidery. Di says the book is equally useful for beginners and advanced embroiderers.

Accompanied by easy-to-follow, close-up photography and step-by-step instructions, you will learn how to embroider the exquisite flowers and leaves in silk and organza ribbon, make the delicate stumpwork wings in organza and silky threads, use organza and silk ribbon to make applique leaves and petals, make charming stumpwork insects…

And much more! You can see more and order from Di van Niekerk Crafts Unlimited.

Patricia says she has been embroidering for more than 60 years, and she would love to trade secrets with other Flower Fairies lovers. You can contact her at [email protected].
