Plastic Canvas Butterfly – Free Pattern

February 9, 2021 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

Julie over on Strings Away! brings us this charming little plastic canvas butterfly plant poke pattern.  What a fun idea!  Wouldn’t these decorations be pretty placed all around your house?  They would make a lovely gift for your favorite plant lover too.

The pattern is suitable for beginners and requires standard plastic canvas making supplies such as 7 count plastic canvas, yarn, and a #16 plastic canvas needle.  In addition, to turn it into a plant poke, you will need a hot glue gun, a pipe cleaner, and an 11″ wooden skewer.

Finished, the butterfly measures about 3″ x 3″ (12″ long is you count the skewer) and there is quite a bit of detail to them.

The designer has provided a stitch chart and color key so you can get the same look she does.  You could easily leave the skewer off if you just wanted to make some pretty charms.  One of these butterflies would look lovely as a gift wrapping adornment.  Add some thread and you could even make Christmas ornaments out of them.
