Plastic Canvas Maple Leaf Coasters Pattern

September 18, 2020 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

This free plastic canvas coasters pattern from Strings Away combines the best of two crafting worlds, needlework and quilting.  It takes the classic maple leaf quilt block pattern and turns it into a coaster.  These are a must-make for anyone one who enjoys working with plastic canvas, and they would be a lovely addition to anyone’s autumn home décor.

I am fortunate that I live in an area that gets beautiful fall foliage.  As soon as it starts getting cooler, the area comes alive in every shade of yellow, orange and red imaginable. The most vibrant leaves are always the ones from maple trees.  Luckily we have a lot of those where I live so mother nature puts on a good show for me.  Honestly, the leaves look quite a bit like the ones in this tutorial.

The designer provides easy-to-follow instructions as well as a detailed diagram for this beginner level pattern.  Other than a few supplies, you really don’t need anything special to make these coasters.

Make a set of them in in one color wave, or do what the designer did, and make each coaster a different one.  I like mixing it up a little so that is probably the way I would make them.

You can find the free plastic canvas maple leaf coasters pattern here.
