Over on Pumora there is a wonderful series of tutorials on how to embroider flowers. The various articles take you through some of the steps needed to create beautiful hand embroidered flowers for your designs.
I thought I would highlight them for you, beginning with this one which shows how to make three types of woven flowers. It includes photo instructions for a woven rose, woven chain rose, and the whipped flower. While the tutorial does not go into details for each flower, it does have step by step photos to help you out.
The designer, Anne, has this book on flower embroidery which can be purchased from Etsy. It is a good accompaniment to her tutorials and goes into more details.
Whether you are just starting out, or have been doing hand embroidery for a long time, this is a helpful tutorial.
Looking at the various woven flowers, I can’t decide which one I like best, so I will probably have to try them all out.
