This. Is. Brilliant. Susan Lenz created a series of embroideries that mimic the look of beach sand. How to create the impression of waves washing across the beach? She soaked them with epoxy! Now they are permanently “wet”–squares of beach frozen in time. I have a small stash of resin left over from another project. I am so trying it with fabric. See Susan’s post to find out more about the technique, including appropriate preparations and precautions for working with this medium.

Hi!
Thanks so much for spreading the word about my most recent experiment. I’m more excited about this than even before I tried it … but I’ll have to wait until September to do more. I’m in Galesburg, Illinois at the beginning of a new art residency where I’ll be conducting my “Looking For a Mate” sock art quilt with the public but also creating a giant canopy from vintage and antique crochet, lace, and household linens! Exciting stuff! Thank you again!
