Gaelic Blessing – Free Hand Embroidery Pattern

March 2, 2021 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

This charming hand embroidery design from Bustle & Sew would be perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day, or any other time.  The saying “May the Road Rise to Meet You” is part of an old Gaelic blessing and is a common one to see adorning the walls of homes.

The designer has added a beautiful spray of flowers to the the bottom of the pattern to really finish off the design perfectly.  Complete with a free downloadable pdf pattern, this is a good design for hand embroiderer who has experience.

Four stitches are used and include:

  1. Back stitch
  2. French knots
  3. Straight stitch
  4. Feather stitch

The pattern also includes a regular and a reverse template for the lettering.  That is ideal for those of you who use various pattern transfer methods for your projects.  If you want to get her look, she has a color chart of the thread she uses in her project.  In addition to the thread, you will need a 7″ embroidery hoop and a 10″ square of background fabric.

Ideal as a housewarming gift for a friend, or to brighten up your own home, you will enjoy making this pretty design.
