Weekend Makes: Punch Needle – Book Review

December 15, 2020 by Claudia Porter Leave a Comment

Take a look around social media and it is easy see that punch needle is one of the most popular needlework trends out there.  This new book Weekend Makes: Punch Needle 25 Quick and Easy Projects to Make, by Sara Moore, could not come at a better time.  It is an ideal publication for crafters who are interested in learning this skill, or who may be looking for some fun new projects.

Released in November 2020, this book contains 25 projects for all skill levels.  With ideas ranging from wall art to clutch bags, there is something for everyone. While a few of the projects featured are solely decorative, most of them are functional.  Everyday items, like a trivet, sunglasses case, or laptop cover, are creatively transformed with Sara’s lovely and modern designs.

At the beginning of the book there is an entire section dedicated to an overview of the craft.  Not only will readers will learn about tools that are used in punch needle, but they will also find detailed explanations on how to use them.  In addition, there is a how-to section, reviewing the stitching basics and steps to finishing.

Each of the 25 projects is explained in detail and includes the following:

  • List of supplies needed
  • Skill level
  • Step-by-step instructions
  • Guide to finishing the project

Beautifully illustrated with color photos throughout, each project is a modern inspiration.
