Bells are a quintessential symbol around the holidays. From Christmas to New Years, they play a large part in services and celebrations. The motif can be found in every type of holiday décor available.
This offset bargello needlepoint pattern from Nuts About Needlepoint is a striking bell design that would look lovely on its own, or as part of a larger canvas. If you are not familiar with bargello, it is a nice introduction to the technique.
It is not a large piece to make, but you do have to plan out your stitches. In addition to the colors used, I particularly like the variegated yarn the maker used in some of the rows. I almost glows with the rich colors and gold thread used.
This free pattern contains all of the information you will need, including canvas size and thread type. You will also find the downloadable pattern for the bell shape and instructions for making the bargello design. There are even some tips on offset bargello, and links to some other free designs.
Bargello always seems to give movement and interest to patterns, and that is definitely the case with this lovely bell.
